Welcome to Sea Scouting in Ventura County, California! Your adventure on the water begins here!
Sea Scouts is a unique program within the Boy Scouts of America. Sea Scouts, like Boy Scouts, pursues challenging rank advancements. The Sea Scouts offer a viable career path to many industries such as the maritime industry, marine salvage, and commercial diving industry. Moreover, it can lead to opportunities in the Navy, Coast Guard, and Merchant Marines.
Just as the name implies, the Sea Scout program focuses on nautical exploration, seamanship, navigation, customs, and courtesies. The Sea Scout Sea Promise states:
As a Sea Scout, I promise to do my best. To guard against water accidents. To know the location and proper use of the lifesaving devices on every boat I board.
To be prepared, to render aid to those in need, and to let those less able come first.
To become a Sea Scout, one must be at least 13 years of age, and graduated from the eighth grade. You can stay in Sea Scouts until you are 21 years of age.
Ship 9201 is the first Sea Scout Ship in Ventura County. Our chartered organization is part of the Pacific Corinthian Youth Foundation (PCYF). Through the PCYF, Ship 9201 has access to a fleet of sail boats, kayaks, and paddle boards, for regular fun activities.
